Career Options for Individuals with an International Marketing Degree

First, a degree program in international marketing opens doors to work either locally or at an international level. Therefore, as long as you fully qualify to be an international marketer, you can get a job in any organization that deals with international markets. To be specific, some of the professions that you can join after graduation are marketing management, market research or public relations.

Marketing Managers

They implement new or existing marketing ideas in the fields of advertising, sales promotions, product development and market research. Market managers with a background in international marketing take charge of promoting locally manufactured goods in international markets, or help in promoting services availed locally in foreign countries. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates that an average marketing manager earned an annual figure of $137,400 in 2014 while their career is likely to grow at a rate of 13% up to 2022.

Market Research Analysts

Market research analysts gather and collect data about a business’ competitors by use of extensive surveys, monitoring market trades and analyzing sales statistics. In addition, they help in the formulation and development of marketing or advertising strategies for business organizations and corporations. The average annual salary for a market analyst as per the BLS estimates was $68,700 in 2014. Also, there is good news for someone who wish to join the profession between now and 2022, as the career is projected to grow at a rate of 32% during that period. The high growth rate is attributed to a rise in demand for people who know a lot about global market issues; thus, helping companies reach larger global markets.

Public Relations Specialists

A PR specialist acts as the public image for a business organization. He or she applies his or her knowledge in good business communication, persuasion skills and image creation to make sure that the public’s perception of the company is ever positive. They also ensure that there is a good relationship between employees, consumers and the shareholders of the company itself. The BLS estimates that this career will grow at a rate of 12% within the next few years while the average salary for PR specialist was $64,050 per annum, in 2014.
