Estate Planning Consultant Job Description

The successful applicant will provide estate planning consultation to company employees and management personnel. These services will include the development of educational seminars and training programs in order to provide guidance to staff in the various elements of creating and implementing an effective estate plan.

The training program should include topics such as key steps in creating an estate plan, legal issues related to estate planning, charitable contribution strategies, tax planning and estate tax implications, financial considerations and special situations that impact estate planning.

This position requires a bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution in personal finance, financial planning, estate planning or similar area. The candidate must also have an Accredited Estate Planner (AEP) designation or alternately hold a law degree and be current with all estate planning CLE requirements.

The successful applicant should have a minimum of 5 years experience in estate planning or at least 7 years experience in related fields with at least 2 years specializing in estate planning. Preference will be given to applicants that have teaching or training experience in estate planning.

The applicant should be familiar with financial industry standards, best practices and standard operating procedures for estate planning. Knowledge of, and experience with, preparing living wills, revocable trusts and charitable trusts is required.

The successful applicant will possess extensive firsthand experience with all aspects of estate planning and have a documented history of demonstrating good financial judgment. The applicant will demonstrate the ability to plan, clearly articulate and execute a training program to achieve specific goals and desired outcomes. The successful applicant will also be required to develop metrics to assess the effectiveness of the program and measure participants’ satisfaction and other relevant feedback.

The position entails a variety of tasks and the applicant should be able to work individually or as part of a team. This position may entail training and directing staff to facilitate the estate planning program goals. The individual should be comfortable in speaking with large groups about estate planning, as well as facilitating small group discussions and conducting one on one consultation. Creativity and flexibility in delivering this valuable information to individuals with a wide range of legal and financial experience is a must.

Successful applicants will be subject to job history verification and criminal background check. This is a drug-free workplace and individuals that receive an offer of employment or contract will be required to take a drug test. This position reports to the director of human resources.
