Length of a Business Management Bachelor’s Degree Program

Higher Education Articles May 7, 2014

Plenty of schools offer Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree programs in Business Management and Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) degree programs with management concentrations. This article explains the time needed to complete a program like this.

Business Management Bachelor’s Degree Programs

Business management programs teach students advanced marketing and business administration principles, corporate finance, and business and management skills.

Coursework

There is great similarity in the core coursework of Business Management degree programs, but they take different lengths of time to complete. It takes four years to complete traditional bachelor’s degree programs; however, some programs that are offered in online formats can be completed in just 15-30 months.

Programs in On-Campus Formats

It generally takes four years to complete on-campus bachelor’s degree programs in Business Management. General education studies, such as humanities, history, science, math, and English, are included in program coursework to add to business management classes. The length of the program can vary between 33 semester hours and 180 total credits. There are also accelerated tracks or programs that take just three years to complete.

Programs in Online Formats

More often than not, it takes less time to complete online programs than it does on-campus programs. It takes 120-180 credits to complete programs. There is a fixed schedule in online programs offered at some schools, while other programs are allowed to be completed by students at a pace of their choosing. This factor, apart from any applicable prior college credits, determines program length.

Degree Completion Programs

Degree completion programs that can have shorter tenures than full degree programs are offered at some schools. The number of previously earned credits will determine the extent to which the bachelor’s degree program is shortened. Individuals with an associate’s degree, or equivalent, complete the program within 15 months.
