Potential Paths of Marketing Bachelor’s Degree Program Graduates

Higher Education Articles May 15, 2014

The bachelor’s degree program in marketing will allow graduates to become market research analysts, sales managers, or promotions, marketing, and advertising managers. These positions feature daily opportunities to utilize one’s business skills and creativity.

Job Options for Graduates of Bachelor’s Degrees in Marketing

Students enrolled in bachelor’s degree programs in marketing, such as the Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) in Marketing program or the Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Marketing program, can seek entry-level careers that call for both business knowledge and creativity. Training in related areas is generally offered in these programs; these include consumer behavior, marketing principles, financial accounting, and business law and ethics. The opportunity to study public speaking and learn a second language may also be afforded to students enrolled in the program.

Marketing graduates enjoy a choice of pursuing various careers; for example, sales manager or marketing and market research analyst positions may be available to individuals who possess strong quantitative backgrounds.

Graduates who want to enroll in advanced programs, such as the Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) in marketing program, seek career advancement, or want to pursue additional business opportunities will benefit from earning a bachelor’s degree.

Promotions, Marketing, and Advertising Managers

Strategies for selling the organization’s products or services are usually designed by advertising and promotions managers. Analysis of the demand is performed by marketing managers, in addition to that of pricing structures, potential markets, and competition for services and products. The overseeing of product development and analysis of trends in their industry of choice may also be performed by them.

Generally, the ‘big picture’ marketing strategy is the domain of marketing managers who oversee the work of lower-level marketing professionals. A bachelor’s degree in marketing or a related field is usually held by marketing, promotions, and advertising managers, who also need to have requisite work experience.

The gathering of data and analysis of need for a service or product in a particular industry or geographical location is performed by market research analysts. Their duties include designing and conducting surveys, gathering information about possible competitors, analyzing the way competitors market similar services or products, and compiling pricing information.

As strong computer and math skills are needed by market research analysts, a bachelor’s degree in marketing will prove beneficial for those who seek this type of business if they complete coursework in these areas or have relevant work experience.
