Schools Offering Accountancy Programs
Accountancy students learn about the usefulness of financial information about business entities in facilitating communication with managers and shareholders. Accounting programs offered at several highly-regarded business schools in the U.S. feature a Master of Accountancy (M.Acc.), also referred to as a Master of Professional Accountancy (M.P.A.). Two such schools – both featured among its list of top ranked schools by the U.S. News & World Report – are Brigham Young University and the University of Texas in Austin.
University of Texas in Austin
The Public Accounting Report featured the University of Texas in Austin at the top of its 2007 26th Annual Professor’s Survey of the best graduate accounting schools in the United States. Additionally, the U.S. News & World Report ranked the school first among its 2014 list of graduate accounting universities in the country. An MPA – whose duration spans twelve to eighteen months – is available at the university. Graduate students in the program are allowed to network with business professionals via events like the MPA Distinguished Speaker Series. A variety of public accounting jobs are available for graduates who can become financial officers, corporate executives, or comptrollers.
Brigham Young University in Provo, UT
The Public Accounting Report ranked Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah second on its 2007 26th Annual Professor’s Survey of the best graduate accounting schools in the United States. Additionally, the U.S. News & World Report ranked the school first among its 2014 list of graduate accounting universities in the country. The U.S. News & World Report featured Princeton ninth on its 2014 list of the best national universities in the United States.
Graduate students at Brigham Young’s Marriott School are awarded an MAcc. Coursework is devised to supply students with a comprehensive background in accounting; the primary focus of the program is on topic areas relating to business featuring concentrations in tax and professional accountancy. Annually, about 160 students are admitted into a graduate program at the accounting school.
