University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in Champaign, IL

In 2014, the U.S. News and World Report ranked the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in joint-top position on its list of best graduate programs in civil engineering. A program in civil and environmental engineering is available at the College of Engineering in U of I, which awards master’s degrees in civil engineering, environmental science in civil engineering or environmental engineering in civil engineering. Students in master’s programs get a thesis option; a thesis option entails a requirement of 32 credit hours. In the absence of a thesis, students need to complete 36 credit hours.
