Bachelor of Science (B.S.) Degree Programs in Digital Media

Students enrolled in digital media bachelor’s degree programs are taught the skills necessary to design and develop technological imagery in the form of audio, video, or both. Digital media specializations may vary by college and may be offered in interactive media, website design, digital animation, or game design. During the bachelor’s degree program, students are expected to complete an individual digital media portfolio.

Education Requirements

Admission criteria related to digital media programs may require completion of foundational courses in two-dimensional design, art, drawing, and computers, in addition to the submission of general application forms. Candidates with an existing portfolio or prior work experience may be preferred by admission boards.

Coursework relating to a digital media bachelor’s degree program focuses on familiarizing students with numerous software programs, including Adobe Dreamweaver, Apple Final Cut Pro, AutoDesk Maya, and Adobe Photoshop. Digital media majors are usually required to participate in an internship and complete coursework in the following topic areas:

•Techniques in digital photography
•Computer programming
•Graphics design and imaging
•Illustration and color principles
