Students will become experts in business management and develop technological skills with a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Technology Management. Those who graduate from this program will be able to apply for leadership roles, such as department supervisor or team manager.

B.S. Programs in Technology Management

Management of Technology programs, or Technology Management programs, is devised to teach students the rudiments of economics, finance and business. Students can expect to become adept at communicating effectively, solving management problems and working with computer applications, and gain expertise in statistical analysis, business communication and human relations. Students also develop the skills necessary for synthesizing technical knowledge, leading organizational setting and understanding business laws.

Admission criteria typically require incoming students to hold a GED certificate or high school diploma.

Coursework

Core coursework focuses on business basics, technology, and the use of information technology in an organizational environment. Apart from coursework, the program may give students the opportunity to participate in field experiences and senior projects. Coursework may typically include topic areas such as:

Students are trained in the analysis and forecast of business trends and the use of technology in enhancing companies and solving organizational problems. Job and Wage Outlook

An 18% employment growth rate has been predicted for computer and information systems managers, including project managers, directors and chief officers, over the 2010-2020 decade (U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics). In May 2012, computer and information systems managers took home an average annual wage of $120,950, while professionals in the top top 10% of earnings took home $187,200 on average.

Graduates from the bachelor’s degree program can seek continued education and advance their careers by completing a Master of Science (M.S.) in Technology Management program. Coursework in these MS programs features in depth study of the connections between business management and technology. Students are taught about data management, global technology management and organizational behavior. They acquire the skills needed for effective evaluation and interpretation of technical systems, in addition to the resolution of contemporary issues within technology fields. Graduates can seek occupations in the middle and upper-level management positions in various organizational settings.
