Bachelor of Science (B.S.) Degree Programs in Web Development

Students enrolled in Web development bachelor’s degree programs will become adept at designing and organizing websites for various purposes. Concepts like telecommunications, ecommerce, or marketing may be emphasized. Programming languages such as XML, Java, or HTML are typically taught to web developers. Students enrolled in the program may also opt to minor in information technology areas such as networking or cyber security. Graduates can seek entry-level careers in numerous areas, including multimedia design, web applications design, advertising, and web design and development.

Admission criteria within these computer-oriented programs typically require incoming students to hold a GED certificate or high school diploma.

Coursework

Coursework typically covers multiple classes in computer programming apart from creative subjects, such as audio or video production. Concepts that apply to web applications, advertising, or Internet marketing are also taught.

Continuing Education Choices

Web developers with a bachelor’s degree, an associate degree, or high school diploma may seek entry-level occupations (BLS). Bachelor degree program graduates may want to continue their education by earning a master’s degree with a Web development option. Master’s degrees are offered by some universities solely in Web development; at others, Web development may be offered as a specialization choice within a wider field, like mass communication. Graduate certificate programs may be offered in specific fields of Web development, like the development of Web applications.
