Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) Programs in Global Enterprise Management

The Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) with a focus in global enterprise management is available to students who seek international business careers. Some schools also offer MBA programs emphasizing global enterprise with global management or international business tracks, or as international MBAs. Coursework in these programs covers ethics, global strategy, multinational businesses, and international finance and operations. Flexible scheduling options – in the form of weekend, evening or online classes – are available in some MBA programs.

Educational Requirements

Admission criteria typically require incoming students to hold a bachelor’s degree. Applicants for admission to many schools may have to take the GRE or GMAT before they can gain admittance. However, this step may be skipped if students meet GPA requirements.

Coursework

Coursework includes foundational MBA courses to augment courses focusing on organizational development, global management, and international business. Operations management, risk management, statistics, corporate responsibility, and financial accounting are in foundational MBA courses. Core coursework may cover topic areas such as:

•International competition
•International ethics
•International business and culture
•International economics
•International finance
•Global supply chain management
•Strategic management

Career Choices

Program graduates can seek careers in financial management, global business, and entrepreneurship, among other occupations. Students enrolled in programs in global enterprise management can also seek careers in eBusiness, human resources, and auditing. They may choose from popular career options such as:

•Global corporation executive
•Global marketing specialist
•International human resources manager
•Financial analyst

Job and Wage Outlook

Over the 2012 – 2022 decade, a job growth rate of 13% has been predicted for human resources managers. During the same time-period, financial analysts, and top executives are expected to see respective job growth rates of 16% and 11% (U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics).

In 2012, sales managers are expected to see 8% growth. During May 2012, human resources managers brought in an average annual wage of $99,720, while financial analysts and chief executives earned respective wages of $76,950 and $101,650 on average per annum.

From 2010 to 2020 decade, market research analysts and marketing specialists are projected by O*Net OnLine to see a 29% job growth rate. In 2012, this group brought in an average annual wage of $60,300 (O*Net).

Certification and Continuing Education Choices

Licensure or certification may be mandatory for some careers in this field. For example, a license must be obtained by many financial analysts. The license is not a requirement for aspiring analysts before securing a position since employers sponsor the employee. The Society for Human Resource Management and other similar organizations offer professional certification for human resources managers. Though the certification is not mandatory, certified human resource managers may be preferred by potential employers (U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics).

Program graduates may pursue continued education by earning a Ph.D. that would enable them to seek careers in research or postsecondary level academia. They may need to augment coursework and dissertation requirements by working as research assistants or teachers while completing the Ph.D.
