Master of Management (M.M.) Programs in International Management

Students seeking a global perspective on managerial organization and leadership would benefit by enrolling in a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) or a master’s degree program in international management (M.I.M.). It typically takes students 1-2 years to complete these programs. Students enrolled in the program are provided with a significant amount of marketing engagement, economic, cultural, linguistic and legal skills through research projects and lectures. Study abroad opportunities may also be available.

Education Requirements

Applicants for admission to MBA or MIM programs are often required to satisfy a minimum graduate- and/or undergraduate-level grade point average standard. They may also have to submit scores from the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT). Previous coursework in foundational business areas such as business law, accounting, and economics is a requirement in some programs.

Coursework

MBA and MIM programs are devised to impart occupational skills, including the ability of preparing and overseeing budgets, in addition to directing and managing the career development of company personnel, beginning with hiring and training them. Program graduates can expect to become adept at conducting global-level bird’s eye assessments of company performance, in addition to having a strong grasp of global markets and international business laws. Job and Wage Outlook

Job outlook in the profession can vary by management position. Over the 2012 – 2022 decade, a job growth rate of 19% has been predicted for management analysts. General and operations managers are expected to see a 12% growth in jobs during the same decade (U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics). Postsecondary teachers are expected to witness a 19% growth while industrial production managers are projected to experience a 2% decline in job growth (BLS).

In 2012, there was a slight variation in the salaries paid for managerial careers (BLS). While managerial analysts brought in an average annual wage of $78,600, postsecondary business teachers earned $68,970. During that year, general and operations managers banked $114,850 on average, while industrial production managers earned $89,190, on average per annum (BLS).
