Earning a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in Marketing

Bachelor of Business Administration degree programs in Sales and Marketing may not always be available, but Bachelor of Business Administration degree programs with marketing concentrations can prepare students for careers in sales and usually includes education related to sales. Graduates may pursue careers in marketing development, sales management, and promotions. Additional career opportunities and higher education may also be available for graduates.

B.B.A. Programs in Marketing

Students enrolled in Bachelor of Business Administration degree programs in Marketing are provided a rudimentary education in management and business principles, in addition to coursework in sales, customer service, communications, economics, market research and analysis and marketing. Through the Marketing emphasis, students are provided with valuable tools, including business acumen. Schools often organize programs around a management framework whereby students are imparted an understanding of marketing concepts and the application of these ideas in decision-making and management of business activities.

Admission criteria typically require incoming students to hold a GED certificate or high school diploma.

Average job growth rates of 8% for sales managers, 12% for advertising and promotions managers, and 12% for marketing managers over the 2012-2022 decade have been projected by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). In May 2012, average annual wages were $105,260 for sales managers, $115,750 for marketing managers, and $115,750 for advertising and promotions managers.

Continuing Education Choices

Bachelor’s degree holders may pursue continued education by earning a master’s degree to gain advanced professional positions, including administrative or leadership roles. Coursework in Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) degree programs specializing in Sales or Marketing include subject areas such as leadership, marketing analysis and financial accounting. Schools also offer Ph.D. programs in Marketing that are most appropriate for those seeking careers in academia or research, with theoretical courses on psychological, business, marketing and socio-economic topic areas. Enrolled students are required to complete a dissertation, in addition to extensive research.
