Founded in 1636, this is a privately owned university that is renowned for being the nation’s oldest school for higher learning. It is a member of the prestigious Ivy League; Harvard University is located in Cambridge, Massachusetts, a city that is located directly across from the Charles River from Boston. Boston University is one of the country’s largest privately owned universities and offers 250 degree programs through its nineteen colleges. It is located in the Fenway-Kenmore and Allston suburbs of Boston and its degree programs are offered at all three levels; undergraduate, graduate and doctoral. Dental and medical degrees are also offered at the Boston University Medical Campus located in Boston’s South End suburb.
