Arkansas Tech University Online Degree Programs
This is a public, four-year university that is located in Russellville, Arkansas. Arkansas Tech University offers master’s degree, bachelor’s degree, associate degree, and certificate programs; some of these programs are available through distance learning.
Associate of Science (A.S.) in Early Childhood Education
Students who want to work in child development environments (Head start or pre-school organizations) and child care should pursue the online associate degree program. The entire course will be completed online, and practicum is also required that cover topics such as creating a safe learning environment, communication, curriculum development for young children, and development and growth.
Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Emergency Management
The online degree program in emergency management provide students with the necessary training for careers in public safety at federal, state, and local government agencies, along with the private sector. The emergency management program addresses issues in alleviation, recovery, response, and emergency preparedness. The coursework concentrates on topics such as the use of information technology in emergency situations, ethics, hazardous materials and environments, terrorism, and disaster planning. Students who are enrolled in an online program will need to complete an externship and practicum that provides hands-on training in a relevant work environment. The Homeland Security and the Foundation on Higher Education in Emergency/Disaster Management accredit this program.
Master of Science (M.S.) College Student Personnel
Students enrolled in this two-year practical program can prepare for a career in student affairs. A minimum of thirty-six hours of graduate study, including six hours of electives and thirty hours of core courses must be completed by students who are enrolled in distance learning. Coursework covers topics such as ethics, leadership, legal issues, administration, and counseling. Students who are enrolled in online programs are expected to complete a workshop that concentrates on applying problem-solving techniques to certain academic problems, as well as supervised practicum. Students who want to advance their graduate work will be required to complete a thesis project.
