Administrative services managers, also known as business office managers, ensure offices run efficiently and businesses are organized. Duties vary depending on the size and type of the company, but can include ensuring compliance with safety standards, contract requirements, and regulations.

Associate Degree Program in Office Management

Students who are interested in office management should pursue an associate degree in business office management or an associate degree in business with a concentration on office management. Students will be prepared for entry-level employment through both of these degree programs. Students learn how to manage staff, process data, complete spreadsheets, and use computer systems. They are trained in communication and organizational skills, marketing, and business and personal finance.

Associate degree programs may be offered through an online or on campus format. Applicants are required to possess a general educational development (GED) certificate or a high school diploma. Students will be required to provide transcripts of their college entrance examinations and submit to a placement test.

The principles of business operations will be covered in the degree program. Programs combine basic educational courses including mathematics, English, and communication with core courses such as:

Continuing Education Information

Certification as a Facility Management Professional or a Certified Facility Manager can be pursued by Office management professionals. They may seek enrollment in a bachelor’s degree program in business management or a related field aimed at improving their chances of career advancement. Master degree programs are also available in business administration and business management.
