Students enrolled in a Retail Management bachelor’s degree program are provided with a basic grasp of the financial, management, and business principles they would need in overseeing the daily operations of a retail establishment. The ins and outs of retail settings are taught to retail management majors, in addition to the skills they would need to keep the operations going. They will become adept at coordinating with supply centers, purchasing goods, hiring and training staff members, organizing merchandise, and marketing goods, among others.
The program is devised to include general operational, strategic and organizational management skills, human resources techniques, visual merchandising, and produce and brand management. Before students can complete a bachelor’s degree program, they are required to gain job experience by working at a retail establishment.

In 2012, retail managers and supervisors took home an average annual wage of $36,820. The employers who paid the highest wages to retail managers and supervisors were automobile dealers and insurance agencies (BLS).
