This is a four-year public educational institution that is located in Montgomery, Alabama. It offers doctoral, master, bachelor and professional degree programs. Alabama State University has a student-to-faculty ratio of 16:1 and has around 5,700 students enrolled at its campus. This is a historically black school; although there is no discrimination in admissions, approximately ninety-eight percent of undergraduate students are identified as African-American or black.

Students who want to earn an undergraduate degree from ASU need to meet the requirements for their major along with all general education standards. Typically, students need to complete around one hundred twenty credits, which take most students around four years to complete, if they were enrolled on a full-time basis.

Graduate Degree Programs at Alabama State University

Alabama State University offers doctoral, master, and professional degree programs through its different departments and colleges. This school has the most robust offerings in the education field and offers numerous Education Specialist and Master of Education degrees in different subject areas, such as music, history, biology, and early childhood education. Alabama State University also offers advanced degrees in microbiology, counseling, occupational therapy, and accountancy. A majority of graduate degree programs require students to complete around two years of coursework; however, students pursuing education degrees are required to complete field-teaching assignments, and other advanced degrees can require students to complete internships, original research, or fieldwork.
