These include Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute, Central New Mexico Community College and the University of New Mexico, all situated inside the Albuquerque metropolitan area.
University of New Mexico
With a campus spread across 600 acres in Albuquerque, and four more branch campuses located in Valencia, Taos, Los Alamos and Gallup, University of New Mexico offers more than 215 certificate and degree programs at twelve schools and colleges; these include forty doctoral, seventy-four master and ninety-four bachelor degree programs. While the largest programs include those in engineering, education and arts and sciences, there are some other popular options such as public administration, medicine, law and management. There are several research centers and institutes on campus; in addition to the largest venue for performing arts in the state, four museums and three art galleries. Community service, patient care, research and educational programs are provided by the college at its health sciences center, the state’s largest academic health institution.

Central New Mexico Community College
This college is located near downtown Albuquerque and has three additional campuses in the surrounding area. Through six schools, Central New Mexico Community College offers associate degree programs and certificate in over seventy areas of study, including trade disciplines, arts and sciences, vocational occupations, technology, health, and business. No other public post-secondary schools in New Mexico offer as many online courses as this one. Apprentice programs in a range of trade occupations, a teacher licensure program and adult and developmental education are also offered. Customized programs aimed at professional development are offered through workshops and non-credit classes, at the main campus, and in the workforce training center of the college.

Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute Community College
Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute Community College is located in the northwestern region of Albuquerque, New Mexico, is a National Indian Community College that provides academic opportunities for Alaskan Native and American Indian students. The school emphasizes on the study of mathematics, engineering, technology, and science. Its associate degree and certificate programs are available in business technologies, early childhood education, and advanced technologies that include geospatial information technologies, natural resources, electronics, and engineering.
