“The trained nurse has become one of the greatest blessings of humanity, taking a place beside the physician and the priest.” – William Osler MD

Dr. William Osler was one of the four physicians who founded John Hopkins Hospital, and has been called the “father of modern medicine”.

“Nursing as an art: and if it is to be made an art, it requires an exclusive devotion as hard a preparation, as any painter’s or sculptor’s work; for what is having to do with dead canvas or dead marble, compared with having to do with the living body, the temple of God’s spirit? It is one of the Fine Arts; I had almost said the finest of Fine Arts.” – Florence Nightengale

“I have an almost disregard of precedent, and a faith in the possibility of something better. It irritates me to be told how things have always been done. I defy the tyranny of precedent. I go for anything new that might improve the past.” – Clara Barton

“Nurses have come a long way in a few short decades. In the past, our attention focused on physical, mental and emotional healing. No, we talk of healing your life, healing the environment and healing the planet.” – Lynn Keegan PhD, RN, AHN-BC, FAAN

Lynn is one of the pioneers of the holistic health movement in nursing.

“When life’s problems seem overwhelming, look around and see what other people are coping with. You may consider yourself fortunate.” –Ann Landers
