Two-year and four-year degree programs for registered nurses (RN) are offered at over thirty schools in California. Prospective RNs living in the Northern California region could seek enrollment in the City College of San Francisco. Those who reside in the South could seek admission to California State University – Long Beach’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing program (BSN).

RN Program at City College – San Francisco

The City College of San Francisco (CCSF), among the country’s biggest multi-campus community colleges, has over fifty certificate and degree programs in over one hundred majors, these include several in the healthcare field. This California college; School of Health and Physical Education offer an Associate of Science in Nursing for registered nurses (RN).

Associate of Science in Nursing

Students enrolled in CCSF’s RN program can use the program to prepare for the licensing examination administered by the California State Board of Registered Nursing and secure an entry level job as a registered nurse. California State University – Long Beach (CSULB) is a prominent public university belonging to the California State University and offers two choices to prospective RNs, namely, the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) – registered nurse and the Bachelor of Science in Nursing – Basic.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing – Registered Nurse

Students who hold an associate degree in nursing that wants to improve their career options can seek admission to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing – Registered Nurse program. Applicants must have already satisfied licensure requirements for practicing in California and have completed a diploma or associate degree program. Apart from basic courses offered to help prepare for enrollment in the bachelor degree program, advanced courses are also offered in mental health nursing, critical care nursing and nursing leadership and management.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing – Basic

This program is aimed at individuals who are beginning to embark on a nursing education. Coursework that introduces students to the field covers health care delivery systems, health care communications, health assessment, and nursing health care. This 4-year program prepares graduates to sit for the registered nurse licensing exam.
