Top Schools Offering Organizational Development

Those who want a career in human resources should look into organizational development. Schools of education, public affairs, and business offer graduate programs in this field. One of the best universities offers organizational development degrees through its education school, and the other has the degrees through its business school.

Pepperdine University in Malibu, CA

The U.S. News & World Report ranked the MBA program at Pepperdine University offered through its Graziadio School of Business and Management 36th on its 2011 list of top business schools in the United states. In 2005, Forbes featured the school among its top 20 list for return-on-investment. An executive master’s program in organizational development is also available at the Graziadio School, which admits incoming students with prior work experience of three to five years. This part-time program has coursework that covers topic areas in system change, small systems and organizational design, delivered over eight sessions. Three week-long sessions are completed by students in France, Costa Rica, China, or California. The students also get the chance of collaborating with businesses to resolve organizational development problems in real-life.

University of Georgia in Athens, GA

The U.S. News & World Report ranked the University of Georgia (UGA) 56th on its 2011 list of top national universities in the United States. Kiplinger’s Personal Finance ranked the university sixth on its 2010 list of the best value public colleges. In 2005, the school was awarded the Outstanding HRM Academic Program Award by the Academy of Human Resource Development.

The Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Human Resources and Organizational Development is available through the UGA.
