Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta
In 2010, the U.S. News & World Report accorded the school 35th rank on its list of best colleges in the country. That same year, the College was also ranked at the top of the magazine’s list of top graduate engineering programs in the manufacturing and industrial specialty. Georgia Institute of Technology began as a trade school in 1885 and in the intervening years has become a nationally recognized research university.
Several Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) and Master of Science (M.S.) programs are available at the H. Milton Steward School of Industrial and Systems Engineering. Core coursework in the master’s degree programs covers subject areas such as computational science and engineering, quantitative and computational finance, industrial engineering, operations research, health systems, and statistics. The curriculum of doctoral degree programs may cover topic areas such as bioinformatics, computational science and engineering, operations research or algorithms, industrial engineering, optimization, and combinatorics. The College of Engineering offers an interdisciplinary, graduate-level systems engineering program. Students enrolled in the 1-year Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) program are allowed to customize it in accordance with numerous subject areas of specialization. The school offers various course tracks including environmental systems, biosystems, spacecraft systems, communication systems, product development, and infrastructure systems.
