Though they are separate disciplines, related fields such as aerospace engineering and aeronautical engineering are academically linked. Study of aeronautics began in 1896 at MIT, but bachelor degree program was officially established in 1926. Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) – Atlanta, Georgia

This four-year public school attracts about 19,413 students. In 2010, Georgia Institute of Technology was ranked by U.S. News and World Report as the second-best college in the nation for an undergraduate aeronautical engineering specialty. The Daniel Guggenheim School of Aerospace Engineering is part of the College of Engineering at Georgia Institute of Technology, and it is one of the oldest and largest programs for aeronautical engineering in the nation. Georgia Tech’s students can pursue a Master of Science in Aerospace Engineering and a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering.
