Majors Overview May 5, 2013

Research associate degree programs related to accounting and e-business management. In this article, students will receive information on career options, courses, and requirements to make an informed decision about their education.

Associate Degree Program in E-Business

Associate in Occupational Science (AOS) degree programs particularly in accounting and e-business management do not usually exist; however, there are different associate degree programs that cover those topics. Several alternative degree program options may include Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in E-Business, AAS in E-Business/Business Management, or Associate of Applied Business (AAB) in E-Business Management Technology. Through program coursework, students will develop skills in computer information, technology, management, and business – as well as take classes in accounting. Learning how to manage, implement, and design an e-business environment is one of the main objectives of these degree programs. The program usually takes two years to complete, if students are enrolled full-time and they are required to hold a general educational development (GED) certificate or a high school diploma.

Program Coursework

The degree program covers most aspects of business management and electronic commerce. A broad range of training includes website analysis, information development, and site architecture – as well as management concepts like product distribution and marketing. Popular course topics may include the following:

•Database management
•Web page development
•E-business management
•Human resource management
•Accounting
•Business concepts introduction

Career Options

Students who graduate from the associate degree program will be prepared to apply the skills they have learned to rejuvenate, run, and launch e-business operations. Graduates may obtain the follow career titles:

•Internet marketing specialist
•Web page designer
•Database administrator
•E-commerce specialist
•Electronic business advisor

Continuing Education

Students might decide to continue their studies to increase their potential salary and job prospects upon completion of an associate degree program. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS – www.bls.gov), some positions related to this field, including database administrator usually require a bachelor degree at minimum. Bachelor degree programs explore topics such as operations management, managerial financing, and global business marketing. Individuals who are interested in pursuing advanced studies should consider enrolling in a Master of Business Administration program that offers an e-business management concentration or a graduate degree program in e-business management.
