AAS in Information System Management
Students can become adept at database development, information technology, website application design, desktop application and computer programming through the AAS program. They are also trained in computer applications and general management principles even as they develop problem-solving and communication skills that the profession requires them to possess. Technical schools and community colleges usually offer these two-year programs where candidates can select between online coursework in distance learning programs and on-campus instruction. Admission criteria require applicants to hold a general educational development (GED) certificate or a high school diploma.

Once students graduate from an associate’s degree program, those with experience may seek employment as computer and information systems managers; however, employers usually require candidates in these positions to hold at minimum a bachelor’s degree. Some academic credits earned during the associate’s degree program may be transferred to a bachelor’s degree program. Schools may offer both bachelor and master degree programs in management information systems or computer information systems.

Certification is often offered by computer software companies to individuals who use their products.
