A.S. Degree in Business Information Systems
Students will learn how to integrate information technology effectively into business strategies through associate degree programs in business information systems. This two-year degree program will prepare students to work with computer software and hardware systems while also covering the fundamentals of general office procedures, software applications, and business ethics. Individuals will learn how to develop decision-making skills that are required in a business environment. This degree program will award students with different degree titles, including an Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) and an Associate of Science.
This program may lead to careers in several fields, such as computer systems analysis, software engineering, technical support, and computer programming. Typically, for admission, students are required to hold a general educational development (GED) certificate or a high school diploma.

The curriculum for this program combines business practices with computer technology. Participants take part in internships and cooperative education to gain real-life experiences in the business world. Students are expected to take some of the following courses:

Once students have completed the associate degree program in business information systems, they will be able to seek immediate employment in the field or transfer credits earned to a four-year bachelor degree program. Graduates may obtain the following career titles:

Although businesses and organizations employ individuals who have earned their associate degree in business information systems, most employers prefer candidates to have either experience or a bachelor degree and extensive training. Individuals who want to obtain management positions are required to have a thorough understanding of business practices, usually found through completion of an undergraduate or graduate degree programs. Depending on the students, some work to gain experience along with earning an advanced business degree.
Certification may show an individual’s level of expertise in the product and enhance their employment opportunities. Product certifications will be offered through software and hardware companies.
