Bachelor of Science Degree Program in Information Systems Management Overview

Individual who oversee the efficiency of information systems, are professionals in network security, database technology, and web development. Students will develop a keen business sense to get an understanding of the organization’s needs while being taught the technical understanding they need.

B.S. Degree Programs in Information Systems Management

Students enrolled in Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree programs, in Information Systems Management, can build the skill-set necessary in successfully releasing and maintaining new technologies within information systems. Coursework, in the program, is devised to help students understand business theory and impart expertise in information technology aimed at creating effective solutions for organizations.

Coursework may typically include general business education in marketing, human resources, personnel management, accounting, and finance, in addition to a technical knowledge base in computer operating systems, database development and systems maintenance, and system structure and functionality. The general communication proficiency of students is enhanced, including the clear and effective presentation of ideas, analysis of problem areas, and collaboration with others on projects.

Admission criteria typically require incoming students to hold a GED certificate or high school diploma. Students, with prior work experience in the field, seeking to enhance their overall understanding and chances of careers advancement are also often admitted.

Job and Wage Outlook

A 25% employment growth rate has been predicted for systems analysts over the 2010-2020 decade, while the corresponding growth rate of 15% has been projected for database administrators (U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics). In December 2013, information technology managers took home an average annual wage of $80,040, while systems analysts earned $79,680, and database administrators earned $77,080.

They can engage in the study and research relating to current technological, sociological and economic trends, pertinent to the development and maintenance of information systems.
