A.A.S. in Network System Security Degree Program

Students enrolled in an A.A.S. in Network System Security degree program will be prepared to seek careers that involve deterring and preventing cybercrime that most governmental agencies and companies are afflicted by. Students can become adept at identifying and preventing privacy invasion, hacking and data theft. Two-year associate degree programs are offered at some schools in the network security field, and students are awarded similar degree titles; these include an Associate of Applied Science in Computer Networking & Information Systems Security or Associate of Applied Science in Information Network Security.

Apart from core coursework, the program curriculum typically requires students to develop analytical and problem-solving skills needed to become successful in this career field. Students will learn how to maintain and monitor the computer network system daily operations. Admission criteria typically require applicants to hold a general educational development (GED) certificate or a high school diploma.

Program Coursework

The associate degree program curriculum includes internships, lab studies, and coursework. The internship programs will provide students with hands-on experience putting their coursework to use in real-time situations. Program course topics may include the following:

Information on Continuing Education

Network system security associate degree program graduates should consider furthering their education by pursuing a four-year bachelor degree program or enter the workforce immediately. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics stated that individuals with bachelor’s degrees usually have better career opportunities, along with those who have certifications.

Certifications may act as means of demonstrating knowledge in the field and keeping up with the latest technology changes. The certifications may be obtained through software and hardware vendors, along with certifying organizations. Students will also receive preparation to take certification examinations on certain computer software. Some examples might include:
