Degree Overview: Associate of Computer Graphic Design

Computer graphic design associate degree program will provide students with a foundation in the techniques and technology used in graphic design. Students who have earned their associate’s degree will be able to seek entry-level positions with web design and desktop publishing companies. Typically, associate degree programs in computer graphic design will take approximately two years to complete, if students are enrolled full-time.

Associate Degree Program in Computer Graphic Design

Students enrolled in an Associate of Science (A.S.) in Computer Graphic Design degree program will be able to incorporate their artistic skills with modern technological advancements. Community colleges, trade schools and related institutions offer these two-year programs. Admission criteria typically require applicants to hold a general educational development (GED) certificate or a high school diploma. A specific grade point average is required by some programs. Students will learn about the business aspects of the industry, as well as the history of contemporary graphic design, during the process of building a professional portfolio.

From 2008 to 2018, there is an expected job growth of thirteen percent for graphic designers, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). With the increasing demand for media for cell phones and websites, animators and web designers will most likely have more job opportunities. Internet advertising and design are two other industries that might offer tech-savvy graphic designers additional employment opportunities.
