Database Administrator

They manage data storage systems for business organizations. While in college or University, database administrators learn how to identify storage needs for computer systems, how to upgrade outdated systems and how to troubleshoot issues in a computer. It is these skills that database administrators apply in their jobs. The BLS estimates that a professional in this field earns an estimated annual salary of $80,280 in 2012, while the career was expected to grow at a rate of 11% up to 2022.

Computer Systems Analyst

Computer system analysts oversee the maintenance and upgrading of computer systems in an organization. Their work is however limited in checking for problems that may affect an organization’s accounting or engineering functions. They are trained to design and model good plans by use of data for a company’s technology related department. People who are aspiring to join this career field should expect a career growth rate of 21%. On the other hand, the average annual salary for professionals in this field was $82,710 in 2012, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). Finally, the BLS notes that computer systems analysts with a master’s degree or higher earned a relatively higher pay compared to their counterparts with only a bachelor’s degree.
