Several schools in the United States offer Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) degree programs in Technology Management. These programs teach students currently in business industries about modern technology.

Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) Programs in Technology Management

Schools often offer a potential MBA specialization called Technology Management within an Executive MBA program. Enrolled students are likely to be professionals who have been working in their field for at least ten years. Students complete many of these high-level programs within 18 months, often via distance learning. The primary focus of this program is on developing business world leaders who can not only manage current technology, but also adapt to rapid changes wrought by it within the workplace. The goal of most programs in this field is to enable students to gain advanced knowledge about multiple technologies and to encourage innovation-focused leadership.

Technology Management Coursework

Given that the program is an MBA, coursework includes core MBA classes in accounting, marketing, management, and finance, among other subjects varying with the school’s curriculum. Technology electives, technology management courses, and management electives are also requirements for students, pertinent to their current field of work.

Emerging Technology Coursework

Schools may offer this course in a seminar format. Coursework entails exposure to several technologies involved in the contemporary workplace (involving both the web and computer systems), in addition to commercial applications, mathematical and chemical principles, quantum computing, and technology competition. Students are helped to gain a grasp of how these technologies fit into modern businesses.

Management Technology Coursework

Enrolled students learn about managerial economics, such as production technology, supply and demand, operation of markets, and costs. They also learn about using technological systems and tools to address these areas. Core coursework may cover topic areas such as sophisticated pricing, market power, transfer pricing, tariffs, externalities, and asymmetric information.

Biotechnology and Business Coursework

Individuals employed in the biotechnology industry would benefit from completing this coursework. Core coursework usually covers topic areas such as grant writing, fundraising, and regulatory approval. Given that prevention of disease is the goal of these companies, students may be taught strategies to manage the research and development pertinent to a specific ailment.
