Jobs in this sector are also likely to grow at a high rate of 30% during the years 2012 – 2022, which will mean that there will be more jobs for about 15,000 people in this sector. Their salary in 2012 averaged at $52,070, according to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics.

As for technicians in this field, a post secondary school certificate can be all you need before getting employed while you will need to have at least a bachelor’s degree if you want to get a job as a Medical and Clinical lab technologist. The technician’s job in this case includes collecting samples and performing some basic tests on human body fluids, tissues and other substances. These technicians are likely to see their industry grow at a rate of 30% while the job growth rate for technologists is expected to grow at a rate of 14% up to the year 2022. The median salaries for these two types of workers are quite different with the former earning an average of $43,240 while the latter earns a higher amount totaling to $57,580.

Biological technician

A biological technician works alongside biological and medical scientists and helps them with carrying out different tests and experiments in the laboratories. If you get employed in this field, the BLS estimates that you would earn an annual figure of $39,750 while the job growth rate in this field will average at 10% per year over the next seven years (2015-2022).
