How to Become a Nurse in the Army
There are a number of ways to become a nurse in the army, including:
•Active Nurse Corps Program
•Funded Nurse Education Program
•Reserve Nurse Corps Program
•AMEDD Enlisted Commissioning Program
Active Nurse Corps Program
This program is available to undergraduate students pursuing a Bachelor of Science in an accredited nursing program. This program grants participants bonuses and monthly stipends to ease the financial burden of an education in nursing.
Funded Nurse Education Program
Captains who are interested in serving as a nurse can pursue their degree through the Funded Nurse Education Program. To be eligible, you must have between 38 months and seven years of active commissioned service. Participants of this program must meet their degree requirements within 24 consecutive months.
Reserve Nurse Corps Program
Undergraduate nursing students who are enrolled in an accredited nursing program are eligible for the Reserve Nurse Corps Program. In exchange for a monthly stipend towards education costs, you will serve one year in the Army Reserve for each six-month period in which you received financial assistance.
AMEDD Enlisted Commissioning Program
Soldiers who are currently enlisted in the Army are eligible to attend an accredited college full-time to complete a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. The program provides financial assistance towards tuition, textbooks and full pay with eligibility for promotions.
