Accelerated College Degree Online: Program Overview

Students who want to earn an accelerated college degree program online have to submit either job history information or prior education in lieu of course prerequisite. The student’s life experience will account for a portion of the degree prerequisites in an accredited program, and require hours that are remaining to be completed from courses offered at a specific university or college. In this article, we will look at the accelerated college degree programs that are available online.

Online Accelerated Degree Programs

Accelerated college degree programs fit the needs of individuals with some college credits or previous work experience before seeking admission. Rarely do individuals earn an accelerated college degree as soon as they leave high school. These programs offer significant flexibility for adult learners who are currently have other commitments or employed full-time; students are advised to devote around three hours per credit hour each week for their class work.

University of Arkansas – Fayetteville, Arkansas

Aspiring students can enroll in an online accelerated Bachelor of Science in Education majoring in human resource development offered by the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville (UAF), and receive credits for professional certifications or job experience. The program groups students together to help facilitate learning. Adults who have five years of work experience and forty-three hours of general education requirements can seek admission to the accelerated undergraduate degree program that commences every fall semester.

Ohio Christian University – Circleville, Ohio

Ohio Christian University (OCU) – Adult Onsite and Online Degree Program (AIM) accelerated degrees are designed for adults who are employed full-time that have completed fifty credit hours at an accredited school. The AIM program at Ohio Christian University offers undergraduate and associate degree programs that are offered either in a weekend format, blended (online & on-campus), or fully online. The Higher Learning Commission accredited all online and accelerated programs at OCU. Accelerated degrees offered include associate degrees in business management and Christian ministry. Undergraduate degrees are offered in substance abuse counseling, psychology, practical leadership, leadership and ministry, logistics management, healthcare management, and business management.

Grand Rapids Community College – Grand Rapids, Michigan

Grand Rapids Community College (GRCC) offers two accelerated degree programs, one that is offered on the weekend and the other entirely online. It takes about eighteen months to complete the coursework for these two associate degree programs. GRCC offers an Associate of Arts majoring in business and an Associate of Arts; both are opened to students who have less than twelve credit hours completed and over twenty-four years of age.

University of Bridgeport – Bridgeport, Connecticut

The University of Bridgeport’s Innovative Degree Excellence in Accelerated Learning (IDEAL) program has graduate and undergraduate programs online for students over twenty-three years of age with some prior completed college coursework. IDEAL offered its first accelerated program in Connecticut, in 1988 carrying accreditation from the New England Association for Schools and Colleges (NEASC).

Pace University – New York, New York

Pace University, which began operations in 1906, offers online accelerated undergraduate degree programs to individuals that have work experience and earned a minimum of sixty-four credit hours along with an associate degree or its equivalent. Individuals who follow the curriculum scheduling and order could complete the programs within two years. Pace University’s online accelerated college degrees includes a Bachelor of Science in telecommunication, internet technologies for e-Commerce, and organizational communications.
