Established in 1967, Springfield Technical Community College remains the only technical community college in all of Massachusetts. In addition to humanities, business, and traditional arts majors, Springfield Technical Community College offers degrees in tech-centric areas including sonography, robotics, laser electro-optics, information technology security, and biotechnology. There are more than ninety certificate and associate degree programs with class sizes that average around twenty-five students at Springfield Technical Community College. Approximately fifty-seven percent of students attend this school part-time.

Holyoke Community College – Holyoke, Massachusetts
This college takes pride in its small class sizes that allow instructors to offer individual attention to students. Holyoke Community College award certificates in forty-one fields, including law enforcement, forensic science, and culinary arts, and associate’s degrees in seventy-six majors, such as sports administration, engineering, and biology. Among Massachusetts’ fifteen community colleges, Holyoke Community College sends the majority of students to four-year universities and colleges. According to the Massachusetts Department of Higher Education, Holyoke Community College’s mandatory fees and tuitions were the third-lowest among all public institutions of higher education in the state during 2008.

University of Massachusetts – Amherst, Massachusetts
The University of Massachusetts is located in a suburban setting that sits between two major metropolitan areas, about 175 miles from New York City and 90 miles from Boston.
