Overview of the top Christian Graduate Schools

Bethel University and Trinity International University are two of the best Christian graduate schools in the United States. Forbes.com has rated both of these interdenominational universities very highly. Both institutions offer seminary programs apart from graduate programs leading to master’s or doctoral degrees. Programs related to ministry, divinity, and theology are available through both of these Christian universities. Internet-based programs are also available at one of them.

Bethel University in Saint Paul, Minnesota

Bethel University, an interdenominational university with roots in the Baptist General Conference, ranks among the largest educational institutions in the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities. The U.S. News & World Report accorded the school a high rank on its 2012 list of best Midwest Regional Universities list; Forbes.com included the school on its 2011 list of best U.S. colleges and universities. The school offers ten graduate degree programs including education, nursing, organizational leadership, and business. The Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Education Administration is the only doctoral degree offered at the University. In addition to Master of Arts (M.A.) programs in Counseling, Education, and Theology, Bethel Seminary offers a Master of Divinity (M.Div.). Many of its degrees are also offered via distance learning seminary programs.

Trinity International University in Deerfield, Illinois

This interdenominational school was started by the Evangelical Free Church. In 2011, Forbes.com listed Trinity International University (TIU) among America’s Top Colleges. The seminary, the law school in Santa Ana, and the grad school are the three graduate-level schools at TIU. Master of Arts (M.A.) programs in Bioethics, Education, and Culture are available at the graduate school. A Master of Divinity (M.Div.) is available at the seminary, commonly referred to as Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, in addition to MA programs in Urban Ministry, Counseling, Evangelism, and Academics. Each focuses on training students for full-time ministry careers. The law school offers doctoral degrees, including the Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree; Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degrees in Educational Studies, Intercultural Studies, and Theological Studies are available at the divinity school.
