Georgetown University in Washington, DC
In 2009, Foreign Policy magazine ranked the Master of Science (M.S.) in Foreign Service at the top of its list for Foreign Policy Association (FPA) schools for international relations. This program is available at Georgetown University’s Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service. Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies in Washington, DC
The School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), part of Johns Hopkins University, was ranked the second best international relations master’s program in the United States in 2009, by Foreign Policy magazine. This school is in the immediate vicinity of the Center for Global Development in the heart of Washington, DC. The FPA also rated SAIS alongside Georgetown as a top international relations school. A Master of Arts (M.A.) in International Relations, including a general study of the field, is offered at SAIS. The school offers a master’s degree program in international relations with a concentration in conflict management, law, and policy, for those interested in a more focused program. Alternatively, these students can pursue a Ph.D. in a subject such as strategic studies, global theory and history, or international law.
