The number is greater than the national average of 874 per 100,000 residents. The total number of nurse practitioners in the state of West Virginia in 2011 was 908, which results in 49 nurse practitioners per 100,000 residents. That number is slightly lower than the national average of 58 nurse practitioners per 100,000 residents.
