Degree Overview: Associate in Network and Communications Management

Companies today rely on networks for internet usage, data storage, and communications. Typically, communications managers and network administrators begin their careers by earning an associate’s degree in networking.

Associate Degree Program in Network and Communications Management

Admission criteria to these programs usually require applicants to hold a general educational development (GED) certificate or a high school diploma. Additionally, applicants may be required to submit official transcripts of any coursework completed. Some coursework may earn credits for high school students who are interested in enrolling in an associate’s degree in networking. Associate degree program graduates can expect to become adept at designing, installing and managing local area networks and seek entry level support positions in the field. Coursework may also focus on multimedia development, web design, and installing and maintaining software. Business courses are included in some programs where students will be provided with a well-rounded education.

Typically, the associate degree program consists of sixty-five to sixty-seven credit hours and designed to be completed within two years, if students are enrolled full-time. General educational requirements are included along with core courses. Program course topics may include the following:
