Associate degree program in computer information systems with a focus on software will offer studies in program documentation and design. Students who have earned their Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree will be able to find jobs with the information technology industry.

A.A.S. in Computer Information Systems: Software Degree Program

Students enrolled in computer information systems programs with concentrations in software may be trained in software, database and network development. Coursework in such programs typically focuses on technical principles and basic business courses, such as operation of personal computers and programming. Associate degree programs usually provide studies in data analysis, data processing, computer hardware, application software and information gathering.

Students are imparted in-depth understanding of system design, systems analysis and database management; they also obtain knowledge and skills related to leadership, IT management, team work, decision-making, and computer use. In some programs, students may be required to take part in internships. Admission criteria typically require applicants to hold a general educational development (GED) certificate or a high school diploma. Bachelor degree program in computer science offer studies in practical and theoretical areas related to the field, providing students with coursework in mathematics, systems, and programming, while programs in software engineering will concentrate on the testing, planning, design, and analysis of software.
