A.A.S. in Computer Networking Technology Degree Program

Students enrolled in an Associate of Applied Science in computer networking technology degree program will be taught about managing and maintaining the networks used in communicating and transferring information from site to site or business to business. Coursework in such a program is usually a combination of theoretical and practical instruction through which students gain mastery over the design, maintenance and repair of networking systems and computer systems. They learn how to develop a network along with the ability to troubleshoot and effectively correct any technical errors that transpire. Admission criteria typically require applicants to hold a general educational development (GED) certificate or a high school diploma.

Program Coursework

Students learn through cooperative education, lab studies, and coursework. Through a cooperative education segment, students will work with employers and instructors to apply their classroom learning to a real-life experience in the field. Most of the courses prepare students to earn their certifications. Although courses vary by schools, topics of study generally include the following:
