Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) Degree Programs in Professional Writing

Students enrolled in the Professional Writing Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) program gain a combination of liberal arts studies with language skills, writing studies, and rhetorical studies. A professional portfolio that documents their writing during the tenure of the program is required to be built through many programs. Students in some programs may also be given the opportunity to publish work both outside and within their school, while some individuals pursuing some programs gain the opportunity of participating in internships pertinent to professional writing.

Admission criteria typically require the submission of GED scores or high school transcripts. Many schools offer professional writing programs through their English departments, and during students’ freshman year, the schools may expect them to declare themselves as English majors.
