Those that complete an electronics engineering program can seek employment in entry-level careers as technicians or engineers in numerous industries. The program aims at making students adept at repairing, designing, and troubleshooting electronic devices. Accordingly, an overview of important foundational concepts is provided by coursework, which includes electrical theory, amplifiers, switches, microprocessors, and controls.
Students also learn about how various components function in hands-on lab sessions, including potentiometers, capacitors, integrated circuits, and transistors. A work–study component is also included in some programs, wherein students find full-time employment as electronics technicians before the program culminates with their graduation. The degree can be earned within three to four years by incoming students, who are required to hold an associate’s degree or a high school diploma.
At the beginning of every program, an introduction to fundamental circuit-types, Ohm’s Law, and electrical theory is imparted. Students enrolled in the program also gain the math skills required to calculate voltage, frequency, capacitance, and resistance in electronic circuits.
