Program Overview: Associates Degree in Business Communications

While there aren’t any colleges or universities that offer the associate degree program in business communications, schools do offer some programs at the associate degree level, which concentrate on business, and also offer communication courses. Students who usually pursue these degree programs will earn an Associate of Science (A.S.) in Business Administration.

A.S. in Business Administration Program

A two-year business administration associate degree program is designed for students who are interested in learning how to oversee daily operations of business organizations. Most courses included in such programs cover practical management strategies, as well as business principles. Students will learn the basics of computer information systems, modern business practices, economics, accounting, and business communication.

Business administration associate degree program graduates will have the skills and education needed to analyze and read financial data, perform general marketing tasks, oversee training and hiring procedures, manage employee members, apply financial information toward organizational strategy, and more.

Education Requirements

Typically, admission criteria in an associate degree program in business administration offered at a university or community college require applicants to hold a general educational development (GED) certificate or a high school diploma. Proficiency with computer science, mathematics, communication and English is expected of applicants seeking admission to the program.

Most individuals who complete an associate’s degree program in business administration pursue continued education by enrolling in a bachelor’s degree program. Most programs allow students to directly transfer credits earned to a four-year bachelor’s degree program. A Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Business Administration is most appropriate for individuals who want to obtain a management role within the industry; a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Communication Studies is an ideal program for someone who is interested in the communication aspect of the industry.
