Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) in Office Technologies Degree

General office support, data management, business spreadsheets, and word processing are explored in an Associate of Applied Science degree program that focuses on office technologies. Students will learn how to effectively manage office operations, communicate in a business environment, and operate office equipment.

A.A.S. in Office Technologies Degree

Practical training relevant to business-related computer programs and office equipment is offered through degree programs in office technologies. Students gain proficiency in spreadsheets, document preparation, data management and word processing. They will also improve on communication skills that include inter-office relations and telephone presence. Students will plan agendas, organize information and maintain records in activities devised to improve efficiency. In some programs, they can also compile portfolios of their accomplishments in order to demonstrate their abilities to potential employers.

Education Requirements

Admission criteria usually require applicants to hold a general educational development (GED) certificate or a high school diploma. Additionally, the majority of programs expect students to meet minimum keyboarding requirements. For this reason, students may want to take beginning keyboarding coursework.

Program Coursework

Typically, associate degree programs in office technologies require sixty semester units of coursework that students can complete within two years, if they are enrolled full-time. Some programs offer specializations, including office management, legal office work, word processing, or medical office work.
