Degree Overview: Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) in Computer Wireless Networking

Wireless networking is everywhere around the world; therefore, technicians will be needed to maintain and install networking infrastructures. An Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) in Computer Wireless Networking program trains students in troubleshooting, network media installation, operating systems, and network servers.

A.A.S. in Computer Wireless Networking Degree Program

Students enrolled in this program can expect to develop technical, analytical and troubleshooting skills. Data management and systems engineering are the areas covered in the coursework. Students become adept at installing, monitoring and maintaining wireless network systems regularly and ensuring their security. They are taught how to communicate effectively within a team setting, analyzing hardware problems and implementing network software. Admission criteria typically require applicants to hold a general educational development (GED) certificate or a high school diploma.

Program Coursework

Along with general educational requirements, students will be required to complete coursework in project management, network security, applied networking, and routers, as well as hands-on work in labs. Cooperative experiences are also available. Program course topics may include the following:

From 2008 to 2018, the employment outlook for students working as computer database, systems or network administrators was much faster than average at thirty percent, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Associate degree program graduates can obtain the following career titles:

•Computer systems technician

Employers of computer systems and network administrators usually prefer candidates who holds bachelor’s degrees though associate’s degree holders with professional certifications and work experience can also seek such employment. Those who complete the computer wireless networking degree program may seek entry level jobs or opt to continue their education.

Individuals who have earned their bachelor’s degrees in computer science, networking and related fields can expect to advance their careers or aspire to supervisory positions.
