Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) Degree Programs in Information Technology

Students enrolled in a bachelor’s program are trained to embark on a business administration career and tackle information technology problems and projects. Students enrolled in the program receive education on modern technology employed in an office setting.

Through technical programs, students are provided with proficiency in computer technology and computational techniques. Schools also offer B.B.A. programs in information technology as a concentration in information technology management.

Admission criteria typically require incoming students to hold a GED certificate or a high school diploma.

Coursework covers classes in business subject areas, including management, accounting, and marketing, in addition to information technology classes in virtual management and contemporary Internet topics. Apart from general education courses, core coursework may also cover topic areas such as:

•Internet theories
•Financial accounting
•Company law
•Business theory
•Network administration
•Management theory
•Project management

Career Choices

Students enrolled in B.B.A. programs are provided with the management concepts and theories required in overseeing projects, leading personnel, and managing information technology departments. They may seek entry-level careers in business management organizations, government agencies, and financial firms and may aspire for job titles such as:

•Information technology manager
•Chief information officer
•General manager

Job and Wage outlook

While a 15% job growth rate has been predicted for computer and information systems managers over the 2012 – 2022 decade, an 11% increase has been predicted for top executives in nearly every industry (U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics). In May 2012, computer and information systems managers were paid an average annual wage of $120,950, while chief executives, including chief information officers, earned a median annual salary of $168,140.

Continuing Education Choices

Graduates from the bachelor’s degree programs can enter the workforce immediately or continue their education by earning a master’s degree in information or business technology. Persons that wish to advance into numerous leadership positions, including top executive positions, would benefit from completing a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) with a concentration in information technology.
