Students enrolled in many programs are required to have prior work experience in the field, apart from a bachelor’s degree. Some schools may require applicants to submit Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) or Graduate Record Exam (GRE) scores.

In some schools, paid internships are offered in government, corporate, and nonprofit organizations that can help supplement students’ classroom learning with real-world experience. Core coursework may cover subject areas such as:

•Labor negotiations
•Finance principles
•Human resource strategy
•Workforce planning
