Master of Organizational Leadership Programs

Graduate business schools commonly offer a master’s degree program in organizational leadership as part of broader business-oriented coursework such as a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.). Students learn management, psychological, and communication principles applicable to marketing, personnel, and public relations problems.

Students enrolled in this program may expect to become adept at boosting employee morale, raising the performance level of the organization and training future employees in the standards of the organization. Program graduates can pursue management and leadership positions in numerous sectors, such as marketing, human resources, and corporate consulting, for government agencies, private businesses, or nonprofit organizations. They may also choose to continue their education by enrolling in a doctoral degree program.

Education Requirements

Admission criteria typically require incoming students to hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited school. If the bachelor’s degree is not in business or a similar discipline, the applicants may have to complete certain developmental coursework before they can begin core courses. Schools may preempt this requirement if students take core courses in areas such as business statistics, business mathematics, and business economics in their undergrad education.

Over the same period, human resources and labor relations specialists could witness a job growth of 7%. In May 2012, human resources managers brought in an average annual wage of $99,720. During that year, human resources specialists and compensation analysts earned $55,640, and $59,090, respectively, per annum on average.

Continuing Education Choices

Program graduates may seek continued education by earning a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) or Doctor of Education (Ed.E.) degree. These degrees may lead to careers in research or academia, as well as to leadership positions within corporations, businesses, governments, and health care settings.
