The University of Maryland at College Park has a bachelor degree program in women’s studies, and it encompasses a wide range of topics for women, including government, policy, research, service organizations and other aspects of business and politics.
Curriculum for UMCP’s Women’s Studies Bachelor Degree Program
The UMCP’s degree program is between 39-42 credit hours and covers about 50 courses. Graduating students will maintain a GPA of at least 2.0 and a grade no less than C-. Students will get to design their curriculum after speaking with a women’s studies advisor. Subjects of interest will include women in society, art and culture and the influence of women, feminism and niches of feminist reconceptualization and practicum. There will also be field work in this subject, as well as theory in regards to what feminism is and how it evolves.
Other subjects that the program will review include female writers, literature, critical theory, female artists and writers in modern times, filmmakers, and artists by ethnicity. As the program progresses, study will concentrate on communication, sociology, reproduction biology, women in science, and discussion of female culture organized by various continents around the world.
